Be It Ever So Humble...

BE IT EVER SO HUMBLE…

Many of our church families have taken vacations this summer. The Caterpillar shutdown has helped that, as well as lower gas prices (remember $4/gallon? Yikes!).

Our family had the opportunity to camp out at Indiana’s largest state park, Brown County State Park. Some of the family stayed in an RV, some in a tent, and some in a “rustic cabin.”

Angie and I (and my mom) were the ones with the two-room cabin. It was sparsely furnished, but adequate. After a long day hiking, biking, cooking out, etc., what more do you really need than a comfortable bed to fall into?

We had a great time at Brown County! We didn’t want to leave after being there only a few days. But after a 5+ hour drive, we were back at a place with an even more comfortable bed – home

What is it about home that’s so good? I said we wanted to stay at the State Park longer, but once you finally get home, you realize just how much you miss it.

Here’s my point: we have an ultimate spiritual home – Heaven – but until then, we have a spiritual home here on earth. It’s the church, or as we call it at CCC, the Family of Love and Truth.

This fall, we plan on celebrating the family at CCC. “Celebrate the Family” will be our theme for Big Day 2009. I can’t think of a better reason to come home from all our summer travels than to get back together with all the Family!

I’m looking forward to it, and I hope you are too. See you soon…at home!
